The Intel 8048 was the titular member of the Intel MCS-48 family of 8-bit microcomputers. First released in 1976 the 8048 had an on-board clock generator, 1048 bytes of mask programmable ROM, 64 bytes of RAM and 27 I/O lines. At maximum speed, it used a 6MHz crystal to generate a 2.5usec instruction cycle.
