What is a laptop?[]

A laptop is a type of portable computer that integrates most of its components including the display screen and keyboard into a single unit. A laptop computer is of a size that makes it suitable for balancing on the lap of the operator or on the side of an armchair. The display screen of a laptop is usually mounted on a hinge and can be folded face down flat over the keyboard for protection and ease of transport.

Most laptop computers can be powered from a battery pack that fits inside the unit. This enabling laptop computers to be used away from mains power for several hours.
