Apple's transition to Intel processors began in 2005. Apple was moving away from PowerPC processors to Intel's processors. It was completed in August 2006, when the new Intel computers shipped to buyers. Apple ceased support for booting with Power PC with Snow Leopard in August 2009. Support for PowerPC-built apps via Rosetta was ceased in Mac OS X Lion in July 2011.
